Blue Oyster Mushroom Bucket Grow Kit – FAQs
1. What’s included in my grow kit?
Your kit comes with a 1-litre black bucket pre-filled with growing material and Blue Oyster mushroom mycelium. The bucket has small holes covered with filters, so it’s already set up and ready to grow — no extra work needed.
2. Where should I keep my grow kit?
Store the bucket in a cool, shady place with indirect light (not direct sunlight). The ideal temperature range is between 16–21°C (60–70°F). A room that’s not too dry or hot works best.
3. How long before I see mushrooms start growing?
From the date of your order, you can expect pinning (the appearance of tiny mushrooms) to begin approximately 15 to 30 days later. You’ll know it’s ready when you see tiny mushroom bumps (pins) emerging through the holes. Warm, humid rooms can speed this up, while cool, dry rooms may take longer.
4. What do I do when I see pins?
When pins appear, start misting the holes and filter patches twice a day with clean water to keep them moist. Place a tray or plate under the bucket to catch any drips.
5. How fast do the mushrooms grow once pinning starts?
Very fast! The mushrooms can double in size each day. They’ll usually be ready to harvest about 7–14 days after pinning.
6. When and how should I harvest the mushrooms?
Harvest when the caps are still curled slightly under at the edges — don’t wait for them to flatten and drop spores. To harvest, gently twist the cluster off at the base or cut it with a clean knife.
7. Can I get more than one crop from the kit?
Yes! After your first harvest, tape over the exposed holes using surgical tape and wait for pins to appear again. You can usually get 2–3 harvests (flushes) if kept in good conditions.
8. Any tips for success?
- Wash your hands before handling the kit or mushrooms.
- Don’t let the bucket dry out — mist regularly.
- Keep it out of direct sunlight.
- Don’t leave mature mushrooms too long — they’ll drop spores and lose quality.
- Check on your kit daily and adjust if it looks too dry
